Do I need to stay with my child during the facial?
Parents or guardians are welcome to stay during the appointment; alternatively, we have a relaxing space right outside the treatment room where you’re welcome to stay if your teen would feel more comfortable having a private treatment.
You can discuss arrangements with me before the treatment.
What age is the Teen Facial suitable for?
This facial is specifically designed for teenagers aged 13–16 who may be experiencing breakouts, blackheads, excess oil, congestion or other changes associated with teenage skin.
Is the treatment suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, the treatment can be adapted for many sensitive skin types. Your skin will be assessed during your consultation, and each step will be tailored to suit your skin’s needs
Is the facial suitable for teenage acne?
The facial is designed to support mild blemishes, oily or congested skin, but it isn’t a medical treatment for acne. If your teen has severe, painful, cystic or persistent acne, I may recommend speaking to their GP or pharmacist alongside appropriate professional skincare.
Will one facial clear my teenager's acne?
Unfortunately not. No facial can promise to clear acne after one appointment.
I’ll be realistic with both you and your teen about what treatments and skincare can achieve. The goal is to support healthier skin and establish good skincare habits, rather than promise perfect skin.
Your teen will leave with a tailored skincare routine to follow at home, helping them build healthy skincare habits and manage blemish-prone skin.
What if my teenager uses prescription acne treatments?
Please tell me before the appointment about any prescription or medicated acne products they’re currently using. Some ingredients and treatments can make the skin more sensitive and may mean parts of the facial need to be adjusted or avoided.
Does a parent or guardian need to give consent?
Yes. As the treatment is for someone under 16, parental or guardian consent will be required before treatment in accordance with The Face Lab’s treatment and insurance requirements.
You do not need to stay in the treatment room, but you must stay in the waiting area for the duration of the treatment of any under-18s.

Skin Analysis
Every facial at The Face Lab begins with a professional skin analysis to ensure your treatment is tailored specifically to your skin’s unique needs.
During your consultation, we’ll assess your skin type, hydration levels, oil production, texture, pore size, and overall skin health.
We’ll identify any concerns such as acne, congestion, blackheads, sensitivity, and overproduction of oil while discussing your current skincare routine, lifestyle, and any medical considerations that may affect your treatment.

Cleanse + Steam
A double-cleanse with CeraVe blemish control cleanser to lift makeup and sebum. A gentle steam is also started to soften the skin and loosen surface congestion.

Blemish Control Clay Mask
This stage of your acne facial combines a professional clay-to-foam cleanser with gentle steam to deeply cleanse, exfoliate and refine the skin.
As the cleanser works, warm steam helps soften the skin and loosen congestion within the pores, making it easier to remove blackheads and impurities during the extraction stage.

Liquid Exfoliation & Ultrasonic Therapy
This stage of your acne facial combines a professional liquid exfoliant with gentle steam to deeply cleanse and refine the skin. The exfoliating solution works to dissolve dead skin cells, excess oil and surface impurities that can contribute to blocked pores and breakouts, leaving your complexion smoother and brighter.
As the exfoliant works, warm steam helps soften the skin and loosen congestion within the pores, making it easier to remove blackheads and impurities during the extraction stage.

Hydromicrodermabrasion
Next, your skin is treated with advanced Hydrodermabrasion technology, which combines gentle water-based exfoliation with vacuum suction to deeply cleanse the pores while infusing the skin with hydrating serum.

Extractions & Cold Towel
Following cleansing and exfoliation, we will perform gentle extractions of any remaining blackheads or congested pores.
We then follow with a cold towel compress to reduce redness and inflammation before moving on to the next step.
This is followed by a Hypochlorous Acid spray Cleanse to clear any bacteria from open pores.
